Jerry Carl Bissette

Jerry Carl Bissette, 53 of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday March 29, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center in Greenville.  

Jerry was born July 31, 1961 in Nash County to J.C. and the late Hazel Smith Bissette.  

Jerry attended Fresh Fire Assembly of God.

 He loved car racing, and Jimmy Pearce, Joe Huss, and Tony Stewart were his favorite drivers.  

Jerry had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back.  

He loved walking, and he would walk 10 to 15 miles a day.  Jerry also loved gardening and collecting stuff.

In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his niece Patricia “Baby Girl” Bissette.

Jerry is survived by his father J.C. Bissette; his sisters Penny Williamson and husband Bubba; Cindy Bissette; his brother Glenn Bissette;  his sister: Amy Alston and husband Andy; all of Roanoke Rapids; his nieces and nephews April Portillo, Christy Williamson; Bryan Bissette; Travis Bissette; Jessica Bissette; Levi Alston; Joshua Wallace and Kayla Jackson.  He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews Ricardo Portillo; Victorina Portillo; and Adalyn Bissette.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Fresh Fire Assembly of God with Rev. Chris Howerton and Rev. Donald Gregory officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service and all other times at the home of Amy and Andy Alston, 3743 Hwy. 158 Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Laura Cobb Harris, 90, died peacefully on March 30, 2015.  

She was born on May 6, 1924, the daughter of Olya Russell Cobb and Patty Spence Cobb.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John Henry Harris, Jr. 

She is survived by two sons, John Henry Harris III (Kathy) of Tarboro and their two sons, John Brock Harris (Kira) of Matthews, NC, and Tyler Spence Harris (Sonja) of Elkins Park, PA; Reuben Marshall Harris (Boyd) of Rocky Mount and their three daughters, Louise Josey Harris Kasper (Todd) of Raleigh, Laura Marshall Harris Thompson (Hank) of Pinehurst and Mary Boyd Gregory Harris (fiancé, Christopher Chenery) of Winston Salem, and five great grandchildren.

 She is also survived by two brothers, Olya Russell Cobb, Jr. (Margaret) of Hickory, Clifton White Cobb (JoAnn) of Weldon, and one sister, Hazel Cobb Taylor of Roanoke Rapids as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

 The family will meet at Hockaday Funeral Home at 507 US Highway 158, Roanoke Rapids,   at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2015.  A graveside service celebrating her life will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon at 11:00 a.m.  The family will visit with friends following the service.

 Memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 South Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Dorothy Parks, 70 of Justice Branch Rd. Littleton, died Thursday, April 02, 2015 at her home.  

Mrs. Parks was born August 18, 1944 in Louisville Kentucky to the late James Kenneth and Myrtle Strater Watson.  

She loved reading, sewing, and cooking.

 In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Rudolph Banty and her second husband Ashley Parks.  

She is survived by her son Michael Banty and wife Melinda of Durham; her daughters Shawn Walker and husband Nathaniel of Littleton;  Regina Banty of Roxboro; and Anita Godsey of Roanoke Rapids;  She is also survived by her grandchildren Cameren Walker; Brad Godsey and wife Samantha; Felicia Mitchell; Jennifer Mitchell; Katelyn Banty; Phillip Cordero; and Crystal Cordero; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.  

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 PM prior to the service also at the funeral home.

Ellen Elizabeth Lawrence Mizell

 Ellen Elizabeth Lawrence Mizell age 97 passed away on April 3, 2015 at Signature Health Care Center in Roanoke Rapids.

Ellen was born December 30, 1917 in Bertie County North Carolina the daughter of the late Richard Lawrence and Sally Ann Cowen Lawrence.

She was also preceded in death by her husband James Starkey Mizell and a brother Joe Henry Lawrence and her grandson Gerald Wayne Spruill. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a great great grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters; Cardelia Seuis and husband George of Roanoke Rapids, Ann Spruill of Como, NC and Mary Moore and her husband Marion of Roanoke Rapids; Her son James F. Mizell and his wife Lois of Roanoke Rapids; Her brother Robert T. Lawrence of Windsor, NC; Her 9 grandchildren James Spruill, Angie Spence, Marion Moore, Jr., Christy Plyer, John Moore, Danny Seuis, Amy James, Mandy Bailey and Penney Brooks; Her nine great grandchildren and her four great great grandchildren.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time.

Charles Cornelius "CC" Howell

Charles Cornelius

Mr. Charles Cornelius Howell (C.C.), age 79, of Seaboard, NC passed away at his home on April 4, 2015.

C.C. was born September 7, 1935 in Seaboard, NC, the son of the late Howard and Alma Matthews Howell. He was also predeceased by his older brother, Howard Randolph Howell.

C.C. was the former owner of Howell Equipment Company for many years

For twenty five years he was Human Relations Consultant for N.C.

State. He was directly responsible for thirty four counties and was trained to cover the entire state in times of crisis.

C.C. was a lifelong member of Seaboard Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Deacon Emeritus and Sunday School Superintendent. He was active in the Brotherhood of the Church, serving as president for several years. He was Region 1 Coordinator for Baptist Men. He was in charge of monthly community work for many years. He also went on five mission trips.

     C.C. was a charter member of the Northampton County Chamber of Commerce, serving as president and on the Board of Directors.  He was a charter member of the Northampton Economic Development Commission.

He wrote, by hand, numerous letters to businesses and groups encouraging them to consider Seaboard as a desirable place to expand their business. He had a passion for seeing Northampton County grow. He was instrumental in getting Union Camp, Seaboard Garment Company, and Coghill Peanut Company to locate in Seaboard.

He was a member of Seaboard Lions Club and the Northampton County Forestry Club.  He was actively involved with Roanoke Rapids Chapter of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship where he held several offices including President.

 C.C. is survived by his wife of 53 ½ years, Carol Winston Howell of the home, two daughters, Catherine Lyons MacAllister (Mark) of Pittsboro, NC and Elizabeth Winston Parrish (Phillip) of Wendell, NC, two grandchildren, Manon and Cade MacAllister of Pittsboro, NC and two step-grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Parrish of Clayton, NC.

 Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Seaboard Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Gaskins and Rev. Steve Trussell officiating. Burial will follow at Seaboard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the services at Seaboard Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

John Ervin Vinson

John Ervin Vinson, 82, of Hamilton Street, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Halifax Regional Medical Center. 

John was born November 4, 1932 in Halifax County to the late John Quincy Adams Vinson and Bertha Mae Barnes Vinson.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Gladys Wall, Martha Polk and Nadine Tuck: his brothers: Luther Vinson and Elijah Vinson.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He loved reading his Bible and was an avid coin collector. He worked at J. P. Stevens until they closed and then worked for the City of Roanoke Rapids.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rachel Beam Vinson whom he dearly loved;  his son: Robert Daniel Vinson and his wife Lisa of Youngsville, NC; his daughters: Rachel Marie Lowe and her husband Jesse of Gaston and Melissa “Rock” Newsome of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters: Linda Coker of Gaston, Dorothy Bryant of Burpin, TN and Eunice Widener of Gaston; his grandchildren: Tommy Norris, Jr., Randy Norris, Hope Yandle, Bear Newsome,  Hunter Vinson, and Caleb Vinson; his great grandchildren: Tyler Yandle, Phillip Yandle, Isabella Newsome, Riley Norris, Seth Norris and Haley Duncan; and a favorite cat “Snowball”.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 10, 2015 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Jeremy Kobernat officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the funeral home and other times at the home.  Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery.

Casey "CB" Yandle Jr.

Casey “CB” Yandle, Jr., 77, died peacefully April 2, 2015 at his home in Roanoke Rapids with his family by his side.

CB was born February 21, 1938 in Charlotte, NC to the late Casey Blair Yandle, Sr. and Hester Smart Yandle.

He was the oldest of three children.

He was a loving and devoted husband and father; an extremely hard working man as well as an avid fisherman and lifetime NASCAR fan.

CB was also a veteran having proudly served with the United  States Army.

In addition to his parents, CB was preceded in death by his son, Tony Yandle and his younger brother, George Yandle.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Jenkins Yandle; daughter, Sherri Wilkerson; sons, Casey Yandle, III and wife, Jennifer Yandle, Paul Yandle and fiancé, Crystal McElwee, Danny Yandle and fiancé, Joanie Delbridge, James Yandle and fiancé, Holly Gordon; his sister, Barbara Parker and husband, Danny. He is further survived by his 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will have a memorial service to celebrate CB’s life Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, 507 Hwy. 158 West in Roanoke Rapids.

Frances Ernestine Bland Sorie, 91, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Signature Healthcare in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Sorie was born September 14, 1923 in Pitt County, NC to the late James T. and Mattie Bland.  She was also preceded in death by her husband: James Henry “Bill” Sorie, her son: Hubert Hardee “Lowe” Sorie; her sisters: Virginia, Luckins, Mattie Fae and Grace; her brothers: John, Hubert and J.T..

She is survived by her son: Billy Sorie and his wife Mary Ann of Roanoke Rapids; her daughter: Priscilla Barnes and her husband Van of Grandy, NC; her sister: Frances Eatman of Greenville, NC; her grandchildren: Kaye Inscoe and her husband David, Dana Barnes and her husband Robert, Tina Childress and her husband Billy, Angie Sorie and her husband Jerry, Debbie Melson and her husband David and Garrie Barnes; numerous  great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Darlington Baptist Church with Rev. James McLean and Rev. Richard Newton officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Charles McDonald Wells

Charles McDonald Wells, 80 of Sweet Pea Lane, Roanoke Rapids passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at home.

Charles was born August 23, 1934 in Halifax County to the late Willie Wells and Irma Hardee Wells.  He was also preceded in death by his wife: Lillie Gray DeBruhl Pruden Wells;  his brothers: Osborne Wells, Gene Autry Wells and Thomas Wells.

Charles was a member of Quankie Baptist Church, a loving and dedicated father and he loved hunting.

He is survived by his daughter: Brenda Wells whom he dearly loved of Littleton; his brothers: McArthur Wells of Frankfort, KY and Wayne Wells of Shallotte, NC; his sisters: Nancy Driver of Elm City, NC and Judy Ellis of Roanoke Rapids; and a special friend: Jesse Rhea.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April, 11, 2015 at Quankie Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Boyd and Rev. Billy Hardwick officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M.  prior to the service also at the church.

Howard Ray Daughtry

Howard Ray Daughtry, 68, of Littleton died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at his home.  

Howard was born December 4, 1946 in Halifax County to the late Howard N. Daughtry and Willie Belle Dickerson Daughtry.  

He was a Navy Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam.

 He loved shooting pool and watching westerns.  

Mr. Daughtry was also a member of the Eagles Club and the VFW.

He loved traveling and was a devoted family man.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Danny Blane Daughtry.

 He is survived by his wife of 49 years Mary Daughtry; his daughters Tracy Daughtry Smith and husband Christopher Bradley Smith of Littleton; Michele Daughtry  McMichael of Jacksonville, NC; his grandchildren Brittney Penfield; Zya Bui; Shayleigh McMichael.  He is also survived by his great-granddaughter Arabella Rayne Bursey.

 A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Roy Porter officiating.  

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 prior to the service also at the funeral home.

Lillie Mae Price Turner

Lillie Mae Price Turner was called home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2015.

Mrs. Turner was born September 28, 1930 in Northampton County, North Carolina the daughter of the late William Henry Price and Josie Birdsong Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jasper Turner, and her four children Marvin Glenn Turner, Jimmy Earl Turner, Brenda Jean Turner Leggett and Jasper Turner, Jr.

She loved the Lord and was a life long member of Community Baptist Church in Gaston, NC.

Lillie Mae really loved animals especially cats. She was a very hard working farmers wife and loved her family more than words.

Lillie Mae was a very special person who has left behind a great Turner Family legacy. Lillie was also an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Linda Turner Acree of Gaston, NC, Vickie Mae Turner and fiancé Mike Allen of Gaston, NC and Cindy Turner McCorkle and her husband Mack of Cary, NC; Her son Michael Wayne Turner and wife Wendy Edwards Turner of Gaston, NC; Her ten grandchildren Brandon Wright and wife Kelly, Kristy Wright, Paul Acree, Tracy Allen and husband Shane, Greg Acree, Glenda Turner Peterson and husband James, Stacy McCloud, Mack McCorkle, Heather Bailey and husband Brandon, Christopher Scott Ferrell and fiancé Ashley Brooks, ten great grandchildren and her special friend Viola Dunlow.

A celebration of life Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC at 1:00 PM with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, VA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Rev. Lonnie R. Armstrong

Rev. Lonnie R. Armstrong age 88, of Pendleton, NC passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Rev. Armstrong was born May 13, 1926 in Nash County, NC the son of the late Joshua Lawrence Armstrong and Eula Mae Shearin Armstrong.  

He was also preceded in death by his wife Jean H. Armstrong, his son Dan Armstrong, a brother, Leon Armstrong and two sisters, Margaret Louise Edwards and Ruby Davis.

Rev. Armstrong served in country in the US Army during World War II and at the time of discharge had the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from Southeastern Seminary.

He was ordained October 1968 and Licensed in February 1968. He served a two church field in Castalia, NC. In 1974 he began to serve as pastor of Galatia Baptist Church for the next twelve and one half years.  He went on to serve as Director of Missions for the West Chowan Baptist Associations.

He is survived by his daughter Marty A. Woodard and her husband Dennis of Severn, NC, his daughter-in-law Lita S. Armstrong of Spring Hope, NC, four grandchildren, Callie and Jeanann Woodard, Molly A. Jones and Fred Simmons. Also one brother, Willie Armstrong of Rocky Mount, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Galatia Baptist Church with Rev. David Foster, Rev. James Hester and Rev. Mark Corbett officiating. Burial will follow at Severn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC.

Flowers are welcomed, however memorial contributions may be made to Galatia Baptist Church or Chowan College.

Mary Barnes Harrison

Mary Barnes Harrison, 87, passed away in Lenoir, North Carolina Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

Mrs. Harrison was born in Halifax County, May 26, 1927, to the late John and Lillie Barnes.  

She was a loving; mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to spoil her family.  

She will always be remembered for her love and generosity in caring for family, friends and neighbors. She will dearly be missed by her family.  

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Harrison and sister, Lillie M. Tidwell.

Surviving are her two daughters Vickie Harrison Daniels and husband, Earl, of Lenoir, NC and Paula Harrison Marriner and husband, Eddie, of Jackson, NC; nephew, who was like a son, Vernon Tidwell and wife, Carolyn of Darlington, NC; four grandchildren, Sheree Allen Billiter and husband Jamie of Lenoir, NC, Brittany Marriner Wilson and husband, Ben, of Fuquay Varina, NC, Heather Marriner Russell and husband, John, of Raleigh, NC, and Eddie Marriner of Jackson, NC; two great grandchildren, Kaylan Billiter and Luke Wilson.  Also surviving are her very dear friends, Troy Rogers and Nancy Wells, both of Weldon, NC.  

Pastor Barry Gardner will conduct funeral services Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, who is handling arrangements.  The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral service also at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

Chester Dunn Rogerson

Chester Dunn Rogerson, 80, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015.  

He was son of the late Chester Wilton and Elizabeth Dunn Rogerson.  

Chester graduated from Ahoskie High School in 1952 where he played on the 1951-52 State Championship Teams in football.  He also played in the Shrine Bowl his senior year.  He graduated from East Carolina University in 1956.  He devoted his career to education teaching in Ahoskie for 2 years and then worked with the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District from 1959 until his retirement in 1996.  Chester was a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Griffin Rogerson; his son, Wilton Rogerson and his wife, Megan of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Elizabeth Loschiavo and her husband, Jim of Dumfries, VA; his brothers, Billy Rogerson and his wife, Paula of Roanoke Rapids, G.C. Rogerson and his wife, Faye of La Plata, MD, and Zeb Rogerson of Vienna, VA; his grandchildren, Cameron Rogerson, Kaitlin Rogerson, Courtney Rogerson, Riley Mills, and Brayden Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services.  Graveside services will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bob Redmond officiating.

Horace Peter Deloatch

Horace Peter Deloatch, 85, of Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, April 20, 2015.

Horace, a native of Halifax County was the son of the late Charles Cecil and Lydia Jordan Deloatch.                                                                           

He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of New Testament Christian Church.  

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Baggett Deloatch; his son, Kenny Deloatch and his wife, Tammy of Roanoke Rapids; his grandsons, Ryan Deloatch and his wife, Ashley of Greenville, NC, and Jordan Deloatch of Greenville, NC; his great grandson, Holden Deloatch; his granddaughters, Paula Crowley and Marcie Crowley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Minister Daniel West officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services.

James Ollie 'Buddy' Dickerson

James Ollie “Buddy” Dickerson, 85, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015.  

He was the son of the late James Ollie, Sr. and Ada Mae Brame Dickerson.  

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Carawan Dickerson and his son, Charles Douglas Dickerson.

James was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 25 years of service and worked for many years at Harding and Grizzard.  

He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He loved woodworking, gardening and working in his yard.  

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Griffin Dickerson; his daughters, Susan “Sue” Dickerson of Roanoke Rapids, Cheryl D. Woodard and her husband, Gene of Roanoke Rapids; his son, Kenney Dickerson and his wife, Pam of Roanoke Rapids; his step daughter, Angela Cook of Enfield; his step son, Frankie Griffin, Jr. and his wife, Liz of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters, Dorothy Taylor of Norfolk, VA, Elaine Powers, Marie Harrison, both of Virginia Beach, VA, and Pricilla May and her husband, James of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Joshua Dickerson and his girlfriend, Jess VonVillas, Jami Dickerson, Brandon Woodard and his fiancé, Kayla Merrell, Brittany Clements and her husband, Brandon, Cindy Rubenstein and her husband, Ira, Michelle Englar and her husband, Mark, Doug Dickerson, Chelsea Jordan, Aaron Jordan, Heather Griffin, Frankie Griffin, III; his great grandchildren, Cade and Presley Clements, Ethan and Drew Rubenstein, Hayley, Kayla and Abigail Englar.  

Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating.

 Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.  

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at the home.

Linwood Russell Berry, 79, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

He was the son of the late William Henry and Parlie Bell Rose Berry.  

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Berry and his nephew, Charles Berkley.

He was retired from Blue Flame where he worked for many years.  

Linwood is survived by his sister, Maxine Berry Berkley of Roanoke Rapids; his cousin and caregiver, George “G.B.” Harris, and his wife, Eloise and several other cousins.  

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating.

Karyl Kidd Myrick

Karyl Kidd Myrick, 69, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Myrick was born, September 3, 1945, in Warren County to the late John C. Kidd and Hazel Benson Kidd.  

She was a case worker for the Department of Social Services for many years and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids.  

Surviving is her husband, Richard C. Myrick of the home; step-daughters, Beverly Myrick of Williamsburg, VA and Heather Angel of Jacksonville, NC; sister, Ruby Eddy and nephew, Michael Eddy, both of Deerborn Heights, Michigan; step grandchild, Haley Angel and cousins, Gerry Alston of Creedmoor, NC, Becky Funderburk of Greensboro, NC and Frank Blaylock of Warrenton, NC.  Also surviving are many close and dear friends.  

The family will have a private service at a later date.
