Michael Gene Peele, 59, died at his home, June 11, 2016.
Michael was born in Wilson, North Carolina, July 15, 1956, to the late Nathan Thomas Peele, Sr. and Emma Lee Moore Peele.
He loved the outdoors and camping and was an avid fisherman. He loved taking trips and loved his family dearly.
He was the type of man that would help anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Brantley and brother, Nathan Thomas Peele, Jr.
Surviving is his wife, Delores “Dee” Peele of the home; daughters, Deborah Jean Mays and husband, Michael, Kitty Shearin and husband, Tim, and Cindy Cook and husband, Fred, all of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Sheila Smith of Elizabeth City; grandchildren, Timothy Roger Shearin, Jr., Harley Renee Shearin, Dallas Wayne Walton, Emily Morgan Shearin and Austin Gene Walton; great grandchildren, Kolson Michael Shearin and Sophia Lula-Paige Epps. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Randy Martin will conduct a service of remembrance Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 11:00 am.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service beginning at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be sent to: UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, External Affairs Office UNC-CH # 7295, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7295.
