Thomas E. McLaughlin, Sr. 48, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He loved hunting and fishing. Thomas spent a lot of time working with kids and he never gave up as his health worsened.
He was survived by his wife: Susan McLaughlin; his daughters: Patience McLaughlin, Sheida McLaughlin and Heaven McLaughlin all of the home; his son Thomas McLaughlin, Jr. of Hertford, NC; his step-son: Sean Chambers of Virginia Beach, VA; his half-brother: Douglas Spence and his wife Aubrey of Elizabeth City; his sisters: Violet Sheldon and her husband Larry of Hertford, Rose Perry and her husband David of Roanoke Rapids, Mechelle Otten and her husband Tommy of Pleasant Hill; his uncle: Robert McLaughlin and his wife Margaret of Roanoke Rapids; a special adopted daughter: Taylor Mitchell; special cousin: Mary Campbell Conner and two loving companions: Butterball and Snowflake.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home.
