Hazel Mae Joyner Daniel, 90,died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Liberty Commons in Weldon,, 2014, at Liberty Commons in Weldon, N. C.
Mrs. Daniel was born May 29, 1924, in Kinston, N. C. to the late Hayward and Hattie Joyner.
She was a longtime member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and worked many years at J. P. Stevens & Bibb Company.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, D. A. Daniel, her grandson, Allen Grant; Her sister, Mary Sue Mabrey, her brothers, James, Johnny, Willie, and Moses Joyner, and her son-in-law, Terry Tomlinson.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Tomlinson, Betty Warwick and husband, Bruce, Joyce Leake and husband, Russell, and Ruth Norton and husband, George. Her grandchildren: Danny Tomlinson, Julie Hayes, Joy Powell, Kristy Walker, Heather Smyth, Brian Leake, Gina Cain, Lindsey McElheney, and David Norton—were the real loves of her life. She helped raise and spoil all of them. She is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren, Katy, Ross, Adam, and Danielle Tomlinson, Emilee, Tyler, Ryan, and Rachel Hayes; Alyssa and Madison Grant, Hannah Cain, Cameron, Christopher, and Mollie Powell, Melanie Smyth, Allen Godsey, Chase, Ethan, Natalie Madison, and Reagan McElheney; Kloey Walker and Corbin Norton, and her first great, great-grandchild is Brylee Turner.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8P. M. on Thursday, November 6, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids. Rev. D. A. Leonard and Rev. Rudolph Britt will conduct funeral services at First Pentecostal Holiness Church on Old Farm Road at 2:00 P. M. on Friday, November 7. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
